When I think about Chesapeake Bank, I don’t just see a financial institution, I see a living, breathing part of our community’s story.
It’s incredible to think that this bank began in 1900 with just a handful of employees and a simple mission: serve the community, even if that meant jumping into the bay. Today, that mission hasn’t changed; it’s only grown stronger.
Our 125-year journey is a testament to the power of community-driven values and what’s possible when people come first. I’ve had the chance to speak with team members who’ve been with the bank for decades. Their stories aren’t just about banking – they’re about neighbors helping neighbors, about small businesses getting their first loan, and about families building futures. That’s the spirit we’ve carried since 1900, and it’s still alive in every handshake, every loan, every smile.
What makes Chesapeake Bank special isn’t just its history, it’s how we’ve evolved while staying true to our roots. We’ve embraced innovation, yes, but never at the cost of personal connection. That’s what our customers value, and it’s what we celebrate.
“Organizations that succeed are not the ones with the single visionary CEO,” said Jeff Szyperski, Chesapeake Bank chairman, president and CEO. “The ones that succeed are the ones who have the right people on the bus.”
